Financial and Insurance Risk Manager
Our client is seeking a Financial and Insurance Risk Manager to join their growing Risk function. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with General Insurance Pricing experience to take on a Line 2 role, providing independent challenge and technical insight across pricing, underwriting, reserving, and broader financial risks.
This role would suit someone with a strong technical background in General Insurance Pricing who is looking to further develop their career within risk oversight. You’ll act as a trusted adviser to the business, using your expertise and judgement to influence key decisions, assess emerging risks, and strengthen risk management frameworks.
Working closely with Pricing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, and senior stakeholders, you’ll provide expert review and challenge across complex insurance risks, supporting robust decision-making and effective governance.
Key Responsibilities of the Financial and Insurance Risk Manager role:
- Provide Line 2 oversight and challenge across pricing, underwriting, reserving, and financial risks
- Review and challenge actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and technical judgements
- Assess pricing and reserving adequacy, identifying key risks and areas of uncertainty
- Provide clear risk insight to senior stakeholders to support decision-making
- Lead thematic reviews, assurance activity, and risk assessments
- Identify and escalate material insurance risks, including model and data quality risks
- Support stress testing, scenario analysis, and emerging risk assessments
- Work collaboratively with Risk, Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, and Internal Audit teams
Skills & Experience required for the Financial and Insurance Risk Manager role:
- General Insurance Pricing experience
- Strong understanding of insurance risk, Actuarial methodologies, and financial risk management
- Experience reviewing or challenging actuarial outputs and technical judgements
- Ability to translate complex analysis into clear insights for senior stakeholders
- Confidence providing constructive challenge to technical experts and senior leaders
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and professional judgement skills
