Risk Transfer Actuary – Part to Newly Qualified
Our client, a leading Pensions consultancy, is seeking a Part-Newly Qualified Actuary to join one of the UK’s fastest-growing Risk Settlement teams. This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of the market’s most significant Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) transactions while playing a key role in the continued growth of an ambitious and market-leading advisory practice.
This position would suit a Part-Newly Qualified Actuary with a strong Defined Benefit pensions experience who is looking to build a long-term career within Risk Settlement. Whether you’re already working within Risk Settlement and looking to join a high-performing team, or you’re an experienced in broader DB Pensions work looking to specialise in one of the fastest-growing areas of the pensions market, this role offers an outstanding platform for your next career move.
Working alongside recognised experts in the field, you’ll build trusted relationships with Trustee and Corporate clients, supporting them throughout every stage of their de-risking journey. From strategic planning and insurer engagement through to transaction execution and post-transaction implementation, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of high-profile projects while continuing to develop your technical and commercial expertise.

Having grown significantly in recent years, the Risk Settlement practice has established itself as one of the UK’s leading advisers and continues to invest heavily in its people and capabilities. The team now consists of around 50 specialists across advisory, broking and post-transaction services, with ambitious plans to become the UK’s leading Risk Settlement advisory team over the next 3-5 years.

Key Responsibilities of the Risk Transfer – Part to Newly Qualified role:
- Advise Trustee and Corporate clients on Risk Settlement strategies and pension scheme de-risking solutions
- Lead and support competitive insurer processes, from preparing quotation requests through to transaction execution
- Prepare and review high-quality reports, presentations and strategic client advice
- Build and develop strong relationships with clients, insurers and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to new business initiatives and support the continued growth of the Risk Settlement practice
- Develop specialist Risk Settlement expertise while supporting and sharing knowledge with colleagues across the wider team
Skills & Experience required for the Risk Transfer – Part to Newly Qualified:
- Part-Newly Qualified Actuary or relevant Pensions Consulting experience
- Experience working within UK Defined Benefit pensions
- Strong understanding of how DB pension schemes operate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Previous Risk Settlement or Bulk Purchase Annuity experience would be advantageous but is not essential
