Our client, a growing Life Insurer, is looking for a Reinsurance Actuary to join their Actuarial team.

 

This role is suited to a Qualified (or very Nearly Qualified Actuary) with experience in Reinsurance, Pricing, Reporting or other Actuarial functions within a UK Life Insurer or Reinsurer.

 

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of Reinsurance activities, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, including the Chief Actuary and Head of Reporting.

Key Responsibilities of the Reinsurance Actuary:

  • Conduct Reinsurance pricing activities, including discussions with reinsurers and negotiating reinsurance terms
  • Work with the Chief Actuary, BPA Pricing team and Head of Reporting to design capital-efficient solutions to manage key risks
  • Support the design, administration and reporting of solutions covering risks including Longevity, Lapse and Mortality
  • Implement and oversee the operational aspects of Reinsurance treaties
  • Manage collateral and administration arrangements, alongside associated reporting requirements
  • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Reinsurance counterparties
  • Support and mentor junior members of the wider Actuarial and Pricing teams

 

Skills & Experience required for the Reinsurance Actuary:

  • Qualified or very Nearly Qualified Actuary
  • Experience within a Pricing, Actuarial or Reporting function of a UK Life Insurer, or within a Reinsurer Pricing or Administration function
  • Strong knowledge of Reinsurance treaties, pricing and administration
  • Experience and knowledge of DB Pensions, Longevity Swaps and other Reinsurance structures would be highly beneficial
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues to senior non-technical audiences
